This policy covers the China Landing Kit website (chinalandingkit.com) and the iPhone app China Landing Kit: Menu Scan. We build tools for travelers landing in China. We do not sell your personal data.
Who we are
China Landing Kit is an independent product and content site for practical China travel guidance. Contact: hello@chinalandingkit.com.
What this product does
The website publishes free guides (payments, connectivity, food, cities, and more). The app provides on-device helpers such as menu scanning, bilingual show-cards, and trip checklists. You can read the site without creating an account.
Information we may collect
- Website analytics (optional). If analytics tools such as Microsoft Clarity are enabled, they may collect aggregated usage data (pages viewed, approximate location, device type, session recordings). These tools use cookies or similar technologies.
- Contact email. If you email us, we receive the address and message content you send so we can reply.
- Android waitlist form. If you join the waitlist via Google Forms (or a similar form), the form provider processes the fields you submit under their own terms.
- App Store / device data. Apple may process purchase, install, and crash data under Apple’s privacy policy when you download the app. We do not operate a separate account system for the app.
- On-device content. Features such as camera/menu scan and saved checklists are designed to work on your device. We do not require a login to use core offline helpers. If a future feature needs network processing, we will update this policy before expanding collection.
Camera and photos
Menu scan may request camera or photo-library access so you can capture a Chinese menu. Images are processed to help you understand dish names. We do not use menu photos to build advertising profiles. You can deny camera permission in iOS Settings; related features will not work without it.
How we use information
- Operate and improve the website and app
- Respond to support requests
- Understand which guides and features are useful (aggregated analytics)
- Notify waitlist subscribers when Android is available (if you signed up)
Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We may share limited data with service providers that help us run the product (for example hosting, analytics, or form providers), only as needed to provide those services. We may disclose information if required by law.
International visitors
The site and app are aimed at people traveling to China. Servers and providers may be located outside your home country. By using the services you understand that information may be processed in other jurisdictions with different data-protection rules.
Retention
Support emails are kept as long as needed to resolve your request and for basic record-keeping. Analytics data follows the retention settings of each provider. You can clear app data by deleting the app from your device.
Children
The product is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

- Use the website without installing the app
- Block cookies / use browser tracking protection for analytics
- Revoke camera or photo permissions in iOS Settings

Third-party services

We may update this policy as the product evolves. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site or app after updates means you accept the revised policy.
